Leitir Caff Rua, Oughterard, Co. Galway
This area was mapped in 2012. Some sections were used by the longer courses of the IOC 2013 Classic Distance championships but a large part is new to orienteering. The printed map is A4 in size at a scale of 1:10,000. The contour interval is 5 m.
Adult courses will begin in a small section of mature forest to the east of the lake and continue in the open mountainside.
Junior courses will start just outside the forest.
The area is generally very runnable with a wealth of rock and contour detail however, some parts of the open are very rock underfoot.
The terrain is moderately steep and courses will generally have less than 4% climb.

Map scale: 1:10,000 for all classes
